Conversion and fit-out of a Berlin apartment. Construction of a new roof terrace.
The character of a duplex flat on the upper floors of an apartment building in Berlin Friedrichshain was completely changed. The dividing walls in the attic floor were removed and the internal stair turned through 90 degrees to create a single generous living/work area. The central stair remains as a freestanding element to spatially divide the various functions of this living/work area. The stair is extended upwards to link this upper floor and the entrance with the large new roof terrace.
